Say No to John Howard’s unfair workplace laws!
Under Howard's new laws:
- Unfair Dismissal protection has been abolished for nearly 4
million workers
- Workers are being forced onto individual contracts (AWA's) that
undercut pay and conditions
- Conditions such as penalty rates, overtime, holiday loadings,
public holidays, redundancy pay and work allowances can all be
cut
- The minimum wage is set by Government appointees, not an independent
umpire
- Ordinary union activities are now illegal, attracting fines
of up to $33000
The report card on John Howard's AWAs
- 100% exclude at least one Award condition
- 64% remove penalty rates
- 63% erase annual leave loading
- More than 1 in 5 provide no pay increase for the life of the
agreement (up to 5 years)
The evidence: Real workers, real families
